Mary Ann Skiba, D. O., originally from Detroit, Michigan, attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and received
her medical degree from Michigan State University. Her residency in internal medicine was completed at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital,
Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Skiba then took the unusual step of highly specializing in blood disorders (hematology) at Oakland General
Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan.
Dr. Skiba is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine with a specialty in hematology. She is a faculty
member of the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, and a former director of the Internal Medicine
Residency Program of the Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. She serves on the Board of Directors of Fort
Worth’s Carter Blood Center and the Medical Advisory Board of Vitas.
Dr. Skiba is married to another physician, an ENT specialist. They moved to Texas in 1985 and started their individual medical
practices. Dr. Skiba joined The Center in 1994, becoming the group’s first pure hematology specialist.
In her spare time, Dr. Skiba enjoys playing golf, cards and board games with her two sons, ages 13 and 10. In addition to walking
3-4 times a week with girlfriends, Dr. Skiba also volunteers at her children’s school.
