Mary Ann Skiba, DO
Hematologist
Associate Director – Hematology Services

“I believe each patient should be treated according to his or her specific circumstances and needs. I give my patients the care I would expect my own family or myself to receive.”

Mary Ann Skiba, D. O., originally from Detroit, Michigan, attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and received her medical degree from Michigan State University. Her residency in internal medicine was completed at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Skiba then took the unusual step of highly specializing in blood disorders (hematology) at Oakland General Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan.

Dr. Skiba is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine with a specialty in hematology. She is a faculty member of the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, and a former director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program of the Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. She serves on the Board of Directors of Fort Worth’s Carter Blood Center and the Medical Advisory Board of Vitas.

Dr. Skiba is married to another physician, an ENT specialist. They moved to Texas in 1985 and started their individual medical practices. Dr. Skiba joined The Center in 1994, becoming the group’s first pure hematology specialist.

In her spare time, Dr. Skiba enjoys playing golf, cards and board games with her two sons, ages 13 and 10. In addition to walking 3-4 times a week with girlfriends, Dr. Skiba also volunteers at her children’s school.
